New govt to review performance of commercial counselors for exports growth

Karachi – The new government will revamp posting of commercial counsellors in various countries in order to boost the exports. The exports have witnessed a gradual fall during last eight years and it is decided that postings will be made only on merit.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI), which likely to form the new government, will bring massive changes in its foreign policy to accelerate economic activities. Sources in the party said that a list of all posted commercial counsellors would be prepared, who were deputed on the basis of favoritism. The new government will replace all those incompetent with professionals to improve the exports, the sources added.

In the first phase, the sources said, the commercial counsellors would be replaced in countries including China, European Union, US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Panama, Canada, Norway, Germany and African economies.

The sources said that the performance report of deputed commercial counsellors would be prepared. They said that in the past these commercial counsellors were paid out of public money but they failed to yield results.

PTI sources said that the new government would take business community on board to achieve sustainable economic growth.
