Governor announces no tolerance towards delay in development projects

Lahore – Governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail has warned the concerned contractors and executing agencies that no delay or compromise in the quality of ongoing, federal government funded, development projects will be tolerated in the province.

Inaugurating here the reconstruction project of Manghopir Road, he said Prime Minister, Imran Khan is particularly interested in the development of Karachi and will ensure that needed support is provided without any hindrance.“This is extremely important given the geo-strategic position of the port city which is not only the commercial axis but also holds all potential to be turned into a hub of international aviation.” he said.

Karachi Mayor, Wasim Akhter, MNAs Aftab Jahangir and Ataullah (Advocate), MPAs Said Afridi and Shahzad Awan, Chairman, DMC-West, Izhar A Khan and Deputy Chairman, Aziz Afridi along with officials from concerned department were also present in the ceremony.

Sindh Governor on the occasion also appreciated support extended by SITE Association of Businessmen and Industrialists and efforts being put in by Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Ltd (KIDCL) for completion of series of projects initiated under the more recently announced Karachi Package.

Referring to the fact that leaking water supply lines and faulty sewerage system was the reason for repeated destruction of the Manghopir Road, the Governor ordered KIDCL personnel to ensure that root cause of the damage is plugged for good.

Zubair Channa of KIDCL briefing the Sindh Governor about the details of the scheme said the rusted water supply lines for the area was being replaced against an estimated cost of Rs.1670 million and this will be completed by December 31 this year.

Rs.738.179 million was said to be allocated for the reconstruction of Manghopir Road connecting Nishtar Road to Banaras Chowk and that this will be completed by June 2019 Mayor of Karachi thanking the Governor as well as Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking personal interest in the development of the metropolis said KMC will extend all cooperation to the authorities for the cause
